Money (gold) - How to make it. If the AH is not a source of gold then how do you make money? Sell to bots. Create a party and you can sell your goods to them at 3-5 times the retail sale price. An example: you are leveling tailoring and make 6 Imbued Netherwave Bags. They can be vendored for 1 gold each, so 6 gold. You sell 6 of them to a party member for 18-30 gold.
How to sell to bots.
1. Open trade with them.
2. Put the item on the left side in the “to be traded” side.
3. Whisper to them the amount you want, generally 3-5 times vendor sell price. To enter the amount you can list either in gold or silver. So 20g or 200s. If you want to sell something for 1.5g then put in 150s. They will either accept your offer, or counter. If they say “No” they will give a counter. Take the number they say and subtract from your initial offer. If I say I want 5 gold for an Imbued Netherwave Bag and they say no and say “I want 1g 25s for this” then I would subtract that from the 5 gold offer. Being lazy I would just re-whisper 350s and they should accept it.
4. Note different races give better deals. I find the Draenei for the alliance give better deals. This might just be anecdotal, but that’s the way it feels.
5. Sell things that make sense. Plate armor for plate wearers, etc.
6. You can sell stuff that is Soulbound if the item is traded within the two hour tradeable time window. So run some dungeons and raids, make yourself masterlooter (I put on Loot:Free for All so I can get everything).
7. Sell the weapons and armor to your party members.
When you hit 80 create a raid and go to Naxx. You can make fat bank in Naxx. Not only do you collect all the purples and then sell them to your party there are a lot of vendorable weapons and armor trash. I did it with a DK at 80 and pulled thousands by doing the whole thing. I got my guy geared decently, got carried by the bots and made a lot of gold. You can do this for any raid, Level 60, 70, or 80.
Reputation is like 3 X normal retail so it’s easy to get exalted. You can buy all the rep items on AH for cheap.
Auction House - Gawell is loading the AH with reasonably priced goods. The AH take is like 30% since it’s cross faction. These indicate it’s not really feasible to get rich off the AH. There are a few niches that can do alright, but it’s a lot more work than it is in retail and not really worth the time,
